Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Tractor-Trailer In I-95 Hit-Run

A 34-year-old man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver while attempting to cross I-95.

Connecticut State Troopers in Troop G found the deceased person after receiving a 911 around 9:29 p.m. Tuesday of debris in the roadway on I-95 southbound in East Haven, state police said.

When troopers arrived on the scene they found that two people were attempting to cross both lanes of the highway when Rafael Arroyo Rivera, of New Haven, was struck in the center lane of the southbound side by an unknown tractor-trailer, state police said.

The other pedestrian made it across the highway. Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene. The tractor-trailer continued southbound on I-95, they added.

"At this time, no information is available for except that it was a tractor-trailer with a white cab and brown lettering on it," state police said in a report.
